NEW WORKS PROVINCETOWN is a developmental theatre lab that was founded in 2020 by Producer MARK CORTALE with partners JONATHAN MURRAY and HARVEY REESE to create and develop new theatrical works in 2020.

Jonathan Murray, half of television's legendary Bunim/Murray Productions, is widely credited for inventing the modern reality television genre, including creating and/or executive producing the groundbreaking shows The Real World, Road Rules, The Challenge,The Simple Life, Making the Band, Project Runway, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and the Emmy award winning Born This Way, among others. Together with his partner, Harvey Reese, they have been longtime supporters and investors in theater, including Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays and Motherhood Out Loud.

In Table 17 , Jada and Dallas, who after a failed engagement haven’t spoken or seen each other in two whole years -reunite for the very first time in front of the audience. Who's moved on? Who's still holding on? Looks like we'll find out.

TABLE 17 had its world premiere Off-Broadway production at MCC Theater in September 2024 starring Two Time Tony Award Winner Kara Young, Biko Eisen-Martin and Michael Rishawn. That production won two Lucille Lortel Awards, one Outer Critics Circle Award, two Audelco Awards, one Joe A. Callaway Award and had its west coast premiere at the Geffen Playhouse in November 2025.

BEAUTIFUL LITTLE FOOL (commissioned June 2022)

This new musical is inspired by the extraordinary union of Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald. A concept album of the show was released in October 2025 starring Jessie Mueller, Ryan Vasquez and Hannah Corneau. The show will receive its world premiere in London at Southwark Playhouse in January 2026.

The show is inspired by the thrilling story of visionary skipper Tracy Edwards and her crew of women who made history as the first ever all-female racing team to compete in the Whitbread Round The World Yacht Race.

MAIDEN VOYAGE had its world premiere in London at Southwark Playhouse in the summer of 2025 starring Chelsea Halfpenny.

A first writers' retreat took place in Provincetown in July 2023. A 29 Hour Reading in New York and presentation was done at MCC in January of 2025 starring Victor Garber, Rick Negron and Leslie Kritzer. Love Is Strange is based on the 2014 Ira Sachs film of the same name.
